[FAQ] TOP questions asked by recruiters
Dear Recruiter,
If you are reading this document, you’ve just probably reached me on LinkedIn or by email.
I care about our time.
That’s why I prepared this page with respect to your offer.
Please believe me, I receive dozens of similar offers per day. If I spent even just 10 minutes answering each of them, I would keep talking on the phone for the entire day (instead of doing my work). I believe that you can present details in an email to save us time.
I prefer email communication, which is asynchronous rather than attention-demanding calls. I’ll reply once I have time and a break from my current work to not lose focus. You can ask me your questions there, and I’ll give you my answers, so you will be able to connect me with the company.
I’m looking for $90 per hour, which gives around $15k monthly and $180k per year, considering an 8-hour working day.
The salary is negotiable because more than money, I value team spirit, an interesting project, opportunities to learn, experienced people, and a company with a mission, vision, and perspectives.
When it’s reasonable and has rational justification (e.g. demos, presentations, deadlines), I can work a couple of extra hours per week.
Yes, I just have to issue an invoice from my own company.
It’s not only more convenient for me, but essentially cheaper for the company I work for. I’m the person responsible for paying taxes.
Moreover, in terms of accounting, my invoice is considered my client’s cost, so it also reduces their total taxes.
No, and I’m pretty sure I don’t have to be for any reason.
I work remotely from Poland, Europe.
I don’t mind traveling to clients’ offices from time to time, though.
I usually work in UTC+1, CET, Central European Time, but I can adjust to make some overlap with either Asian or American working hours if needed.
It depends on the definition of “freelancer”. I can commit to a project full time, without being hired permanently, but I can be self-employed and issue invoices.
I know this is the best way to assess candidates. That’s why I created and care about my GitHub portfolio. You will find there different repositories from various domains. I hope this will be enough for your developers to verify my skills.
I do code challenges if and only if I don’t work currently full-time anywhere. Otherwise, I spend my free time writing my blog.
If you consider all the above legitimate, feel free to send me your offer.
And when it matches my requirements and skills, I will definitely schedule a call with you 🙂
